Landscaping Crew Leader

Reports To: Office Manager

SUMMARY: The Crew Leader is responsible for the supervision, monitoring, and training of Crew Members. Will also performs landscape production work and coordinate client work activities as necessary for the timely completion of contract requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises and provides work assistance to Crew Members.
• Make independent judgements, within guidelines, regarding the assignment of Crew Members to meet production/contract needs and that the stated objectives of persons receiving services are being met.
• Deals effectively with customers regarding production contracts to include scheduling and making suggestions to customers with regards to specific landscaping needs.
• Performs all aspects of landscape maintenance tasks.
• Performs basic servicing of assigned landscape maintenance equipment, both powered and non-powered.
• Provides for the safe handling and application of fertilizers/pesticides at designated contract sites.
• Operates riding mowers, front-end loader tractor, and vehicle with trailer attached.
• Completes and maintains accurate records and reports.
• Keeps management promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

• May Crew Member Trainees, when assigned.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by the Office Manager, or Executive Team.

• Employee is regularly required to stand; twist; walk; bend; lift; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and see and hear and communicate with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job.
• Employee will be required to work outside in an environment that may include inclement weather and extreme heat and/or cold.
• Ability to safely lift and/or carry 50 pounds.
• Ability to drive varied distances daily.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job.

REQUIRE:

• Any combination of education, knowledge, and/or skills, equal to a minimum of two years’ experience with commercial landscape maintenance and landscape maintenance equipment.

• Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Math skills appropriate for basic statistical analysis and report preparation.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and maintain a clear DMV to be insurable by the Work Training Center’s carrier.
• A fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice on file as a condition of continued employment.
• Pass a drug screen analysis.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime as required.
• Adherence to established dress standards.

PREFER OR WILLING TO ACQUIRE:

• Two year’s college credit in the Horticulture Sciences.

• Current First Aid and CPR certificate or the ability to obtain certification.

• Obtain Qualified Applicators Certificate
