Immigration Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and proofreading all such documents;
• Preparing and organizing documents for trial;
• You will be expected to display a thorough understanding of state rules, legal ethics, and professional practice standards;
• Proficiently manage client documents from initial filings through discovery, trial preparation, and settlement;
• Review, and analyze various records, reports, and other case materials;
• Communicate with clients, office staff, and attorneys;
• Perform legal research;
• File pleadings via mail and court e-filing, and serve on opposing parties and counsel.
• Ability to prioritize daily workload, meet deadlines and quick response to family law situations;
• Handle incoming client calls relating to cases, client office drop-ins and responding to opposing counsel/party demands (when office assistant is unavailable or otherwise indisposed);
• Strong administrative, organization, and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to connect and communicate clearly with clients;
• Ability to analytically identify legal issues and develop legal arguments;
• Excellent writing and communication abilities; and
• Ability to be a team player.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday through Friday, Weekends and overtime as needed

Education: Associate (Preferred)

Experience: Microsoft Office: 3 years (Preferred), Customer Service: 2 years (Required), Paralegal: 2 years (Preferred), Immigration (Preferred)

Language: Spanish and English (Required). Do not apply unless fluent in English and Spanish. 

Work Location: In person at our Jackson office (Required). Not remote. If not local, please include cover letter that address commute.
