Staff Designer I

The Staff Pad is seeking a Staff Designer to join a professional engineering group in Reno, Nevada. As a Staff Designer I you will be responsible or supporting our clients laboratory testing efforts in the field of geotechnical engineering and QA/AC construction. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance within all project scopes through rigorous testing, research, and innovation.
Acts as data gatherer; prepares maps, charts;
Able to perform Basic CAD such as layering, drawing lines, labeling, hatching, xreferencing etc.
Able to perform Basic Civil 3D such as alignments, data referencing, surface creation, labeling, etc. with supervision
Performs, field marking for USA DIG, oversees contractor provided potholing with supervision.
Performs field work such as sidewalk condition assessments, cross slope verification, sign surveys, manhole verification inlet verification, with supervision.
Provides test results analysis and field data to Project Manager
Writes field reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reports
May be assigned field construction responsibilities
Contacts vendors; researches literature and regulatory requirements under supervision;
Conducts earthwork calculations; calculates quantities, performs minimal design work, preliminary analysis, and layout
Follows company safety standards, site safety standards, and provides all required permitting
Must be able to perform job responsibilities safely
Requirements
Minimum Entry Requirements:
B.S. (or M.S.) in related technical field
If the job requires solo work assignments outside of the office, a valid driver's license is required
Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years professional consulting experience
