Summary of Job Purpose

Lift Operations is responsible for the safe loading and unloading of our guests and equipment on arial and surface lifts. This is an outdoor and physically demanding position. Lift Operations is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Lift Operations Manager and Supervisor, the Lift Operator shall be required to:

• Comply with the A.N.S.I. code B77.1 section 4.3.2.3.3 2017, which states the duties of the operations shall be as follows:
  • Maintain orderly passenger traffic conditions within their jurisdiction.
  • Advise and assist passengers, as required.
  • Maintain surveillance of their area of jurisdiction
• Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner and being able to answer questions professionally.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of bicycles on lifts.
• Assist with the daily operation of your assigned lift, to include:
  • Inspecting and checking of the lift prior to operation.
  • Filling out the pre operational daily lift log.
  • Proper knowledge of radio use and codes.
  • Maintaining the lift house, equipment and surrounding areas throughout your shift to ensure they remain in a neat and orderly manner.
• Maintain carriers, loading and unloading areas, platforms, and ramps; in such a manner as to make it easy for guests to load and unload with a high degree of care and efficiency.
• Provide timely and accurate information concerning mountain conditions such as, slope, weather and related information intended to help the guest maximize their experience.
• Communicate with your supervisor and all other departments in a professional manner, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency situations.
• Maintain, support and promote all proper records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
• Staying professional & friendly, while checking guests’ tickets for accuracy.
• Keep updated on current events at Dodge Ridge.
• Be knowledgeable of and promote hill safety, risk awareness, and good housekeeping procedures.
• Be prepared for walking and working on uneven ground and variable surfaces.

Job Qualifications

• Complete the initial lift operations training program and understand the Customer Service Policy of Dodge Ridge.
• Ability to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
• Be aware of the bike park’s terrain and facilities.
• Be well groomed and present a professional public image.
• Maintain a courteous, pleasant demeanor in person and on the telephone.
• Be in good physical condition, as this position requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May be needed at times to do heavy, awkward lifting, (up to 65lbs.-with assistance).
• Must be capable of tolerating heights.
• Have good manual and physical dexterity skills.
• Possess the ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for their care and safe operation.
• Possess the ability to read and write legibly, use good composition skills to complete reports, forms, etc.
• Be punctual, honest, trustworthy, and practice good judgment.

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and number of guests play a significant role in the work scheduling of employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.

Working Conditions

At any time during the season, Dodge Ridge employees must often perform their tasks in high winds, variable visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, smoky, hot or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and often you will work around moving objects. At times you may be inside your lift shack.
