Job Description
Summary of Job Purpose

The Vehicle/Equipment Manager is responsible for the maintenance of all company vehicles and equipment, in a manner that protects the company’s investment and supports its goals. Responsibilities include directing and performing the program of vehicle maintenance according to the work plan, consisting of preventative maintenance, general maintenance, and repair work as well as related work on other mechanical needs of the resort. Leads in maintaining and repairing the vehicle and equipment fleet in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations and the Dodge Ridge Maintenance Program. This position will also provide support to other maintenance related departments such as Lift and Facility Maintenance. This position is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the vehicle and equipment maintenance program to comply with all safety regulations.
  • Document all inspections and maintenance performed on all equipment and vehicles.
  • Comply with all state and federal requirements regarding safety inspections
  • Document and maintain all current vehicle registration.
  • Hires, trains, motivates, and monitors the performance of all vehicle maintenance employees.
  • Directs and schedules the activities of all department employees.
  • Maintains close contact with vendors and manufacturer's commercial vehicle representatives.
  • Provides proper product and training resources on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Effectively manage the sourcing and purchasing of all related parts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain all bulk supply resources
  • Monitor and maintain all inventory with regards to shop, vehicle, equipment, consumable, and non-consumable items. Maintain tracking system for inventories.
  • Create and maintain operating budget.
  • Conducts daily and weekly training meetings. Educates vehicle users about their responsibilities to the Fleet safety program.
  • Understands, keeps well-informed and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicles.
  • Strives for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
  • Attends managers meetings.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Specific and generalized knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, machined parts, and pneumatic systems
  • Competent mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting of various machinery and components, performing all tasks with a safety-first attitude.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work during extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to work in a maintenance shop environment
  • Must posses a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program

Work Schedules

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work up to 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.

Working Conditions

At any time during the season, Dodge Ridge employees must often perform their tasks in variable weather conditions; high winds, rain, snow, and extremely warm temperatures.

Work is typically inside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. During summer operations it can be noisy, cold, hot, dry, or humid. You may be expected to work in warm places and often you will work around hot and cold objects.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. It is expected that a name tag and uniform are worn during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you may be required to provide some items as part of your job. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.
