Industrial Supervisor

The CALPIA (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) program is a (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) program designed to meet California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutional needs statewide needs. The Coffee Roasting and Grinding program will train incarcerated individuals with the necessary knowledge and skill level needed to meet the highest possible standards for coffee roasting and grinding. In return CALPIA provides training for a skilled workforce in the private sector upon release, reducing the potential for recidivism.

CALPIA is searching for an Industrial Supervisor (Coffee Roasting and Grinding), at Mule Creek State Prison, located in Ione, CA, Amador County. This position is responsible for instructing and supervising inmates in the roasting & grinding of coffee beans and packaging of soluble coffee for sale to CALPIA customers. The PIA is looking to fill an Industrial Supervisor, Prison Industries (Coffee Roasting and Grinding) position at Mule Creek State Prison. The Industrial Supervisor is responsible for working inside a prison directly with incarcerated individuals instructing, leading, and providing Instruction to assist with coffee roasting and grinding services.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Industrial Coffee Roasting/Grinding Experience: Roasting or grinding coffee in an industrial setting.
• Enterprise/Factory Production Experience: Operating machinery, assembling equipment, parts, etc.
• Purchasing Experience: Purchasing materials and goods in support of a factory or enterprise; negotiating contracts; preparing bid awards, etc.
• Inventory Management Experience: Preparing work orders, bills of lading, requisition materials and supplies, etc.
• Budgeting Experience: Analyzing monthly accounting reports; cost analysis; examining budget estimates for completeness, etc.
• Supervisory or Management Experience
• State Service Experience

Persons appointed to positions in this class must be reasonably able to maintain sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellow employees or that of inmates.  Assignments during tour of duty may include sole responsibility for the supervision of inmates and/or the protection of personal and real property.  Persons appointed to positions in this class are required to wear a personal alarm and must carry a whistle at all times while on the worksite.
