Salary:

WWCM has an opening for an experienced Database/Radio Broadcast Engineer. The Database/Radio Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for mission systems integration and other capabilities in the area of communications and intelligence systems, that consider cybersecurity and a host of additional mission support NextGen services.


In this technical role, you will be a critical contributor in the development and deployment of software solutions to support development programs and build compelling products. Under the guidance and direction of an experienced engineer, you will perform cybersecurity work by improving product design, hardware, software, security testing, processes and preventing security threats to products and systems. Additionally, you will participate in all phases of the software lifecycle, including concept development, requirements, design, implementation, and testing and cyber risk assessment activities.


You will provide technical support to broadcast facilities in the repair, maintenance, design, and modification of technical broadcasting equipment. You will perform regular maintenance on equipment and preventative maintenance, including software and hardware updates. You must be efficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing video and audio issues that come up, which requires extensive testing before a recording or transmission and solving problems as they arrived after a broadcast has begun.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Optimize product/system security by creating, reviewing, and documenting system architecture and detailed design solutions that reflect best practices in secure design
  • Identify and implement software and hardware improvements needed to effectively protect against and respond to known and emerging cybersecurity threats
  • Perform or support security testing such as penetration tests, fuzz testing, and internal/external audits/coordinate remediation as necessary
  • Enforce consistent software quality by implementing tests and performing code reviews
  • Demonstrate efficient use of server-side caching as well as edge caching for video stack
  • Work with Software Development, Systems Engineering, Product Security, and other stakeholders to develop and document cybersecurity controls
  • Handle all required preventive and technical maintenance of onboard broadcast equipment
  • Learn to Build shows from the ground up, including router configuration, signal flow troubleshooting, and working with various technicians to establish show requirements and turn them into executed solutions
  • Check the daily Master Control playlist during shift for any issues
  • Able to troubleshoot, fix and solve complex problems involving broadcast equipment, television studio, control room, field camera, audiovisual, visual information graphics, IT and telecommunications gear
    • Evaluate the performance of wireless networks and creating plans for improvement
    • Research radio waves and designing new devices
    • Install and repair equipment
    • Coordinate with manufacturers and other businesses to develop products
    • Provide technical support for live production and assist with occasional remote productions
    • Must be able to lift and operate handheld cameras weighing 26+lbs and climb ladders


    Required Qualifications:

     

    • U.S. Citizenship and must have the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Computer Systems, Systems, or Software), Computer Science, or related discipline
    • 1-3 years of cybersecurity engineering, software engineering design and development, or systems administration experience
    • Hands-on experience with a range of AV systems including switchers and interfaces
    • Experience in assessing and remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities
    • Deep understanding of streaming technology used to distribute Internet radio, generally suing a lossy audio codec
    • Familiarity with streaming audio formats: MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Pgg Opus, Windows Media Audio, RealAudio, AAC, and HEC-AAC (or aacPlus)
    • Demonstrated knowledge in TCP or UDP packets to combat lag often displayed in digital audio broadcasting
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with C++, Python, Perl, or Shell
    • Experience in developing plans for creating new wireless networks
    • Experience in Linux system administration on RHEL or similar distributions
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Computer Systems, or Software), Computer Science, or related discipline
    • Well versed in GDPR, and NIST
    • Familiar with DISA STIG assessment and implementation for Linux and/or Windows systems
    • Familiar with Threat Modeling and MITRE ATT&CK TM Framework
    • Knowledge of secure programming practices
    • Experience in threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessment
    • Cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CSSLP, or similar
