Salary: $60,000-$65,000+

Purchasing Agent


As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in construction activities for large-scale apartment and condominium developments. This is a demanding and exciting position for those who like to multi-task and can thrive in a fast-paced team environment. Above all else, our Purchasing Agents are responsible for communication and coordination between the many people involved in the construction of our communities to ensure our customers receive the highest quality service in the industry.

 

You will be responsible for the following areas:

Contracts

  • Main point of contact for bidding and contracting all vertical construction trades
  • Responsible to ensure all subcontractor agreements are executed for each project including insurance compliance is up to date for each trade partner
  • Compile detailed trade specifications and submittals per project
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records

Production Coordination

  • Coordinate with production team and trade partners to confirm construction details match plans, scopes and subcontractor agreements for each project
  • Coordinate with production team to resolve any on site issues or unforeseen conditions that come up during day-to-day construction activities

Administration

  • Enter, maintain and ensure accuracy of contract costs in construction management software called Buildtopia
  • Coordinate between project superintendents, trade partners and design team to ensure projects are being built accurately and efficiently
  • Assist in permitting process from application submittals all the way thru receiving certificates of occupancy for each building

Other areas

  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned

 

You have the following experience (at a minimum)

  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Previous experience in purchasing activities for building single-family or multi-family production homes

 

You have the following attributes and interpersonal skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
  • Works effectively with colleagues to share information efficiently and cooperatively to complete work both individually and in a team environment
  • Presents a professional first impression and demonstrates stellar people skills
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

 

You have the following technical skills:

  • Basic computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with take-off software and/or construction management software is a plus
  • Possess a detailed knowledge of construction, trade management and contracting
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies
