OrthoVirginia is seeking a full-time, experienced Operating Room Manager to join our team in Herndon! Summary
The primary purpose of the OR Manager/ Operating Room position is to be responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations. Supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure staff members provide safe patient care in the area managed.
- Incorporate and assist staff members with assimilating evidence-based knowledge into decisions for the provision of safe patient care with the assistance and guidance of the Director.
- Assist staff members in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.
- Ensure that educational resources are available for the perioperative team.
- Coordinate, facilitate and manage change regarding the surgical schedule.
- Demonstrate effective communication, consultation, negotiation and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate or serve as a member of team in planning perioperative patient care.
- Conducts annual performance reviews on direct reports.
- Approves time in ADP for direct reports.
- Ensures coverage by another Manager or Director while out on PTO.
- Assist in interview process for staff member selection.
- Ensure that appropriate staff members, equipment, and supplies are available.
- Ensure staff members compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, governmental regulation, and professional standards of care.
- Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to the perioperative team.
- Work closely with Inventory Specialist to obtain supplies, implants, and speciality items needed for surgical procedures. Manages Inventory Specialist and Supply area.
- Assist staff with day to day processes in the operating room.
- Monitor rooms for changes in schedule and facilitation of cases to optimize time and efficiency.
- Manages Sterile Processing area and staff. Collaborates with sterile processing team regarding schedule and instrumentation needed. Communicates changes in schedule and coordinates regarding changes needed in Vendor Trays and instrumentation.
- Exhibit professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Delegate tasks as appropriate according to scope and licensure of practice and job descriptions.
- Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
- Possess and provide good customer service skills.
- Works in staffing as appropriate to licensure, as needed, to fill in for vacations, absences, or emergencies.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships(teamwork) with team members.
- Maintain required competencies.
- Attend required meetings and educational sessions.
- Pursue professional growth with no less than 10 contact hours of education.
- Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy of all appropriate information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Compliance Responsibilities
Compliant with all federal and state statues including OSHA. Compliant with all AAAHC(Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) standards. Compliant with OV policies.
Job Requirements
Required:
- OR licensure as RN, ST, SA for State of VA
- BLS certification
- ACLS/PALS if RN
- Basic Computer Skills
- Leadership experience
Preferred:
- CNOR or other OR specialty certification
- Two years perioperative services experience
