Description:

Ridge Eye Care, Inc. is seeking a Scribe for charting physician-patient encounters in real-time, such as during examinations, using a medical office electronic health record (EHR) system and existing templates. A Scribe will also generate referral letters for physicians, manage and sort medical documents within the EHR system, and assist with e-prescribing.


What will you do?

  • Accompany the physician into the patient examination room to transcribe medical history, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others present.
  • List all proper diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
  • Refer patient questions regarding diagnoses or test results to the doctor.
  • Anticipate and communicate with other technicians to ensure the proper flow of patients and their needs.
  • Have excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Behave calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.
  • Communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.
  • Comply with HIPAA and always strict patient confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as needed or as assigned.
  • Travel to both Yuba City and Redding

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Medical terminology and exceptional grammar.
  • Recognition of exam process and ability to record exam details.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Organizational skills with a focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
  • Proficient and fast typing skills.
  • CPR certification (will be provided if you don’t already have it)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.

Typical Working Conditions:

Environment: Primarily a temperature-controlled facility.

  • Work may require prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate clinical testing equipment, a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate in person, by phone, or over video.
  • Requires occasional lifting of papers or boxes up to 30 pounds.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Sight – sufficient to read physical documents, and images on a computer monitor.
  • Smell – sufficient to discern smoke/something burning, and other odors.
  • Hear – sufficient to hold face-to-face/telephone/video call conversations, and to discern other ambient noises.
  • Touch – sufficient to operate a keyboard, mouse, other standard office equipment, and writing implements.
  • Physical ability/strength – sufficient to lift, twist, turn, reach, climb, kneel, squat, sit, walk, stand, and bend as needed throughout a standard shift.
