As an HR Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the HR department by undertaking a variety of administrative tasks and ensuring the smooth functioning of daily HR operations. Your main objective will be to assist the HR Department with administrative needs as well as respond to employees with HR-related queries, maintain accurate employee records, and contribute to the overall efficiency of HR functions.
Essential Duties:
- Administrative Support: Assist the HR department by maintaining accurate employee personnel
records and organizing any HR-related documentation. - Recruitment Assistance: Play a key role in the recruitment process by posting job openings,
coordinating phone screenings, and contributing to the recruitment efforts for the Power
Systems Academy (PSA). - Employee Onboarding: Facilitate the seamless onboarding of new hires by coordinating preemployment checks, preparing necessary documentation, organizing personnel files, and
coordinating the delivery of welcome swag bags. - Employee Relations: Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies,
benefits, and procedures, providing timely and accurate assistance. Escalate any unresolved
issues to the HR Director as required. - HR Systems Management: Utilize HR software proficiently to input and maintain employee data,
generate insightful reports, and provide support for HR analytics initiatives. - Payroll and Compliance: Assist with payroll processing tasks including data entry and
verification, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Additionally, contribute to fulfilling state-mandated Prevailing Wage Reporting requirements. - HR Projects: Contribute actively to various HR projects and initiatives such as assisting in any
employee surveys and participating in events team meetings and activities. - Additional Support: Provide assistance with other duties within the HR department as necessary
to ensure the smooth functioning of HR operations.
General:
- Collaborate with the HR team to identify areas for improvement in HR processes and
procedures. Provide input and suggestions for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. - Stay up-to-date with company policies, procedures, and culture. Continuously seek
opportunities to deepen understanding of company values and goals. - Attend meetings as needed to contribute HR perspectives and insights to discussions on
company strategy, policies, and initiatives. - Stay current with HR trends, best practices, and regulations by attending relevant workshops,
seminars, and training sessions. Keep abreast of industry developments through reading
professional publications and engaging with HR networks. - Be willing to occasionally travel to company branches or recruiting events as required.
- Be adaptable and ready to take on additional responsibilities or tasks.
Schedule & Pay:
- Up to $24/hr
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred but
not required) - At least 1-3 years of human resources experience required
- Prevailing Wage experience is a must
- Conforms with the core values of BPS
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management
systems. - Ability to build a trusting rapport with employees
- Supports diversity
- Exhibits excellent judgment; ability to manage confidential information
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English
- Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail
- Computer skills to include MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
HRIS Databases, data entry - Must positively represent the company at all times
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background, drug and credit checks
