Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Project Manager to lead public works and architectural projects in our Columbus, Ohio office. Responsibilities include preparing project engineering budgets, monitoring construction progress, supervising field staff, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and coordinating technical reviews with design engineers. You'll evaluate daily work progress, manage communication between agencies, clients, engineers, and contractors, and schedule and run pre-construction and job meetings. Additionally, you'll address contractor issues, recommend acceptance or rejection of work, process design change requests, and analyze extra work costs. Desired Skills and Experience

- Over 10 years of experience in construction or contracting.

- Possession of a bachelor’s or associate degree in civil engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or Construction.

- Preferred possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

- Demonstrated proficiency in project management and business development.

- Proven experience in site development, general trades, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and roofing.

- Knowledgeable in construction management.

- Skilled in project budget management.

- Familiarity with construction inspection and testing.

- Self-motivated with a strong desire for career advancement.

- Must hold a valid driver's license and have a registered insured vehicle.

Tasks and Responsibilities

 

- Fulfill the role of Construction Project Manager for public works or architectural projects.

- Develop project engineering budgets and oversee progress throughout construction, while executing project billing as required.

- Supervise daily activities of assigned field staff.

- Examine shop drawings and submittals, coordinating technical reviews with design engineers and providing assistance when necessary.

- Assess daily work progress.

- Manage all communication between controlling agencies, clients, engineers, and contractors.

- Organize and facilitate pre-construction and job meetings, including preparing and distributing meeting minutes.

- Assess Contractor issues related to plan and specification interpretation, coordinating resolution efforts with relevant stakeholders.

- Determine whether work meets compliance standards outlined in plans and specifications.

- Review and handle Owner/Contractors' design change requests.

- Analyze additional work costs to ensure fair pricing and negotiate with contractors if required.
