It will be the teacher’s job to instruct and train students in all subject areas assigned by the school board/administration. Included in those tasks are planning, reporting and communication with the administration. Further, the teacher will seek to establish and maintain an environment in the classroom which promotes growth and maturity. This includes spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical growth and maturity. Student-teacher relationships are expected to proceed upon a biblically-based values system and upon the teacher’s desire to be conformed to the image of our Savior, Jesus Christ.


JOB DUTIES

The job duties listed below are a general list of teacher responsibilities.

It will be the teacher’s responsibility to perform the following duties in accomplishing the above purpose:

I. Spiritual Preparedness and Responsibilities

· Maintain a daily personal devotional life so as to be prepared spiritually for the demands of each teaching day.

· Demonstrate by example love and obedience to Christ and His word.

· Attend an evangelical church and serve in a church ministry as the Lord leads.

· Share on an alternating basis in the leading of faculty devotions.

II. Planning, Assessment & Evaluation Responsibilities

· Provide all written teaching plans required by the administration, which incorporate the school’s scope and sequence or other approved curriculum.

· Develop a plan and method for evaluating student work.

· Request instructional equipment and supplies.

· Prepare materials and use resources to support instruction.

  • Conduct assessments to identify students' reading levels, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze assessment data to develop individualized reading plans for students.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and evaluation.

III. Instructional Responsibilities

· Provide targeted instruction to small groups or individual students based on their specific needs.

· Implement evidence-based reading interventions and strategies to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

· Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and support students in the regular classroom setting.

· Integrate biblical principles as appropriate.

· Evaluate student understanding and mastery of content.

· Demonstrate command of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.

· Utilize a variety of teaching methods, materials, media, and evaluation tools.

· Provide reference to other disciplines and life examples in order to transfer, expand and enrich learning.

IV. Professional Development

  • Offer training and support to classroom teachers on effective literacy instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Stay current on research and best practices in literacy instruction and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to reading instruction.

V. Management Responsibilities

· Utilize effective classroom and instructional management techniques.

· Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with student-teacher and student-student relationships.

· Recognize the value of time-on-task and demonstrate overall good use of the instructional periods, as well as planning periods.

· Arrange the physical environment to complement the learning atmosphere.

VI. Communication Responsibilities

· Maintain accurate and complete school records.

· Maintain effective communication with the students, parents, team members, faculty, office staff, and administration.

· Clearly communicate compassion and empathy to all students in keeping with the mission of the school.

· Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with conflicts and personal issues that arise.

VI. Professional Assignments and Related Duties

· Arrive punctually and attend all duties, programs, and meetings that are scheduled by the administration.

· Serve on the committees for the purpose of evaluating curriculum, textbooks, operational procedures, special events, services, etc.

VII. Professional and Personal Qualities

· Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, school board policies, and support the goals and objectives of the school.

· Maintain a professional attitude in relationship with others and collaborate with colleagues and administration.

· Maintain personal appearance in a professionally appropriate manner.

· Model the spiritual expectations of the school.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading Specialist certification preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in literacy instruction or intervention roles.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy development, assessment, and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to analyze data and use assessment results to inform instruction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Upon entering into contract to teach at Immanuel Christian School, the teacher is encouraged to work toward an Association of Christian Schools International teaching license and to complete that which is required by A.C.S.I. to obtain a professional A.C.S.I. teaching license. State licensure is recommended, but not required.
  • The teacher will be regenerated by the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Jesus Christ by the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • The teacher will have a working knowledge of the Bible and will complete studies in the Christian Philosophy of Education.
