Job Title: Controller
Reports To: Director of Finance
Position Purpose: Responsible for the Club’s day-to-day accounting operation including the end of month closing process and financial statement preparation and analysis. Oversight of the Club’s billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes, including supervision of the Staff Accountant and Accounts Receivable Coordinator. Provide monthly audit oversight of the club’s internal control policies. Provide support to other accounting department positions and assist the Director of Finance with special projects to improve and enhance the Club accounting systems. Must be highly detail-oriented, organized and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Have a proven track record of excellent management, verbal, and written communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Timely preparation and review of general ledger, trial balance, and preliminary financial statements.
- Prepare various month end closing journal entries, account reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor multiple bank accounts and review daily bank balances.
- Prepare monthly cost of goods sold entries for various departments including inventory analysis and analytical review.
- Provide analytical support for the monthly departmental financial statements.
- Prepare, review and file monthly Sales & Use and Admission Tax returns.
- Review and oversight of monthly billing activity throughout the Club facilities, including supervision of the Accounts Receivable Coordinator and Staff Accountant.
- Review and oversight of the cash receipts functions throughout the Club facilities.
- Review, oversight and analysis of the inventory functions throughout the Club facilities.
- Review and Oversight of the Accounts Payable functions.
- Provides support to the Director of Finance with the annual budget preparation.
- Oversees and coordinates external audit process.
- Provides support to the Director of Finance with special projects to enhance the Club accounting systems.
- Perform other accountabilities as required.
Education and Work Experience Qualifications
- BS/BA Accounting degree from four-year University/College; four years relevant work experience. CPA, CHAE or auditing experience a plus.
- Preference for experience in 501(c)3 clubs or hospitality organizations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial software, ideally Jonas Club Management.
- Must be computer savvy and have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must be capable of adapting to new technology.
