Job Description

Manages Cage operations, with the assistance of the Controller, to ensure that all funds’ transactions are properly carried out, and that all cash and equivalents are accounted for through proper reconciliation.

Works with other department managers and supervisors on a regular basis to ensure enforcement and adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as to ensure compliance to the policies of local, state and federal regulations.

Reviews the work activities of subordinate employees to ensure that work is being performed according to the standards established by management.

Enforces all company policies and procedures.

Formulates and recommends to the Controller operational policies and procedures for the Cage.

Maintains a continuing awareness of operational areas under immediate control.

Resolves problems that are within the position’s scope of authority and recommends course of action to the General Manager or Controller to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority.

Ensures that access to the Cage is by authorized personnel only, and keys to sensitive access areas are properly controlled, and credit procedures are properly followed.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities such as scheduling, discipline and timecard approval in a timely, fair and objective manner.

Responsible for bank deposits.

Responsible for currency and coin inventory.

Tracks and investigates all over/shorts.

Maintains accurate accountability of all funds assigned.

Works with local and state authorities to recover payments for NSF checks.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience:  Associate degree (A.A.); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Nevada State Gaming Card or ability to acquire one. 

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the Cage and Vault, Vault Cashiers and Cage Cashiers.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring employees, in coordination with the Controller, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
