Job Description

The Role: Under the direct supervision of the Counseling Services Manager, the Residential Therapist will provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and therapeutic individual and group counseling services to children, youth, and adults at selected WEAVE counseling sites, including the safehouse and transitional housing programs. Clinical supervision is provided by WEAVE. This counseling position is a training opportunity for associate therapists to earn hours towards licensure, as well as an opportunity for providing short-term therapeutic trauma work and utilizing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions. Once licensed, associate therapists may apply for a licensed therapist position, if available.

Qualifications:

  • ASW, APCC, or AMFT with current BBS registration, in addition to a master’s degree in a related field, are required.
  • A minimum of two years of individual and group counseling experience, or at least 1000 clinical hours towards licensure, are preferred.
  • Experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault preferred.
  • Experience working with unserved and underserved communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and client centered therapeutic interventions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing trauma-informed, client-centered, inclusive services.
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour classroom peer counselor training (post-hire requirement) and attend amount of required continuing education to maintain certification.
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof vehicle insurance.
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check (post-hire requirement).

Compensation: The wage for this position starts $30 per hour.
