Job Description
Salary: $125K - $150K DOE

Summary:

The Fleet Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s fleet operations. This will involve managing the organization's fleet assets to support its operations, meet regulatory requirements, and achieve strategic goals efficiently and effectively. The Fleet Director will work directly with the compliance department to ensure that the fleet maintains compliance with all Federal and State regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all vehicles comply with DOT regulations, including maintaining accurate records of inspections, licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Develop and implement DOT best practice policies and procedures to ensure the fleet operates safely and legally.
  • Ensure regular audits and inspections are completed to identify and address any issues promptly.
  • Develop and oversee a preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and serviced according to manufacturer recommendations and DOT regulations.
  • Develop and maintain service provider network to minimize downtime and ensure equipment is in optimal condition.
  • Manage accurate records of all fleet assets, including vehicles, equipment, and related documentation such as titles, registrations, and warranties.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies or equipment upgrades to improve fleet performance and reduce operating costs.
  • Maintain, prepare, and submit required regulatory maintenance records, reports, and filings related to DOT compliance.
  • Develop and manage the fleet budget.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as operations, logistics, and finance departments, to align fleet management objectives with overall business goals and priorities.
  • Managing the acquisition, disposal, and replacement of fleet assets, including vehicles and equipment. This involves negotiating contracts with suppliers, evaluating procurement options, and ensuring fleet assets are properly utilized and maintained throughout their lifecycle.
  • Analyzing fleet performance data, such as fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, and maintenance costs, to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Generating regular reports and presenting findings to senior management.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable, any direct reports.
  • Manage parts inventory on wear items. Request competitive pricing from various vendors.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, transportation, or relevant field preferred; or combination of education and relative experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience preferred in the following areas: heavy machinery, vocational equipment, hydraulic systems, electrical systems.
  • Valid Driver License with clean driving record.


Required Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and written skills with customers and employees. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Must have organizational skills and be detail oriented. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
