Bike Mechanic Summer 2024

A Bike Mechanic performs all technical duties inherent in the Bike Repair Shop. The Bike Mechanic is responsible for assembling bikes, completing repair diagnosis, and performing downhill bike repairs as needed.

It is very important for this position to establish rapport with guests, provide accurate information, and promote products through knowledgeable recommendations while also identifying how individual products and services can improve guests’ experience. A candidate for this position is someone looking to grow in both skill and knowledge in this industry.

• Assemble bikes, repair bikes, and maintain bikes.
• Provide guests with high levels of service and recommend products.
• Performing repairs on guest’s bikes, including walk-in repairs.
• Diagnose guest’s equipment and company equipment.
• Build or assemble new equipment.
• Possess advanced knowledge of bike repair processes.
• Complete necessary documentation and paperwork neatly and accurately.
• Comply with all area and industry procedures and regulations.
• Be able to pass all certification requirements.
• Maintain a tremendous level of organization and cleanliness, adhering to and accountable for the proper care, storage and safety procedures regarding the use of tools and equipment.
• Operate Point of Sale system.
• Sell all aspects of summer bike equipment.
• Attend training clinics.
• Attend weekly safety meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain a helpful and friendly attitude at all times.

• Working knowledge of products.
• Bike Mechanic Certifications are recommended.
• Possess intermediate to advanced riding skills preferred.
• Understanding of basic mechanical principles, practices, and procedures relative to equipment.
• Ability to use basic tools.
• 2-3 years of bike mechanic experience.
• Be courteous, and efficient in work habits and maintain a tidy appearance.
• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Heavy and awkward lifting up to 50lbs
• Applicants must be 18 or older.

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees. When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 per week, including weekends and holidays. You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time.

At any time during the season, Dodge Ridge employees must often perform their tasks in variable weather conditions, high winds, rain, snow, and extremely warm temperatures.

Work is typically inside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. During summer operations it can be noisy, cold, hot, dry, or humid. You may be expected to work in warm places and often you will work around hot and cold objects.

A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. It is expected that a name tag and uniform are worn during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you may be required to provide some items as part of your job. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.
