Description:

Ridge Eye Care, Inc. is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to facilitate the smooth and efficient processing of new and returning patients throughout the testing and treatment procedure process. The Technician will be someone who strives to anticipate the needs of patients and doctors while modeling pleasant, professional, and collaborative behavior and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

What will you do?

  • Greet patient in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Obtain and document history in chart on EHR.
  • Perform pre-exam tests, including A/R, mini V/F, color VA’s stereo vision, lensometer reading, VA’s, pupil check, motility, IOP’s and dilation.
  • Perform diagnostic testing – OCT, fundus and slit-lamp photos, VF.
  • Assist doctor in minor procedures.
  • Anticipate and communicate with the other technicians at all times to ensure proper flow of patients.
  • Refer patient questions regarding diagnoses or test results to the doctor.
  • Direct patient with a filled scrip to optical.
  • Open, close and clean procedure, and exam rooms.
  • Monitor cleaning of equipment-slit lamp, indirect, lenses, etc.
  • Clean and autoclave instruments.
  • Monitor and stock procedure and exam rooms.
  • Pull and file back-office patient charts.
  • Fax prescription refills and pre-authorization requests.
  • Inventory medical/back-office supplies, report low stock to Lead Technician.
  • Call and confirm next day appointments.
  • Perform recall tasks.
  • Travel between Feather River Eye Care in Yuba City and Royo Eye Care in Marysville (paid mileage and travel time)

What you will bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) credential preferred.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of clinical testing equipment and proper testing procedures
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures to provide direction and ensure consistency within the team.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment and decision making.
  • Skilled in maintaining a consistently pleasant, collaborative, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively train new employees on clinical procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patient, company and employee information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to logically approach clinic problems/issues, establish facts and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Ability to maintain an organized work area and meet departmental and organizational deadlines.
  • Ability to work in situations that require prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Ability to utilize eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate clinical testing equipment, a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to utilize normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate in person, by phone, or over video.
  • Ability to occasionally lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds.
