Martis Camp Club is looking to employ an energetic and passionate tennis professional to provide tennis lessons to members of varying ages and skillsets. The tennis professional's responsibilities include evaluating students' performance, ensuring that all tennis equipment is in good working order, and educating students on tennis game strategies and good sportsmanship. This position requires the maintenance a professional appearance at all times in accordance with Martis Camp standards. To be successful as a tennis professional, you should be knowledgeable of different coaching methods and able to perform first aid as needed. Ultimately, an outstanding tennis pro should be able to motivate students as well as demonstrate exceptional communication, problem solving, and organizational skills, as well as provide the highest member satisfaction.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Tennis Professional and Instructors will offer superior hospitality to members and their guests through outstanding lessons, coaching, and clinics.
The commission structure will vary based on position and experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in supervising play and ensures proper charging of fees, and rental of equipment.
- Initiate, promote, and conduct tennis clinics, special events and programs to attract and maintain members' tennis interests.
- Provide beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players and ensure accurate billing for such activities.
- Participate in camps and clinics as scheduled.
- Clarify all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
- Work cooperatively with other departments on Combo Camps
- Ensure proper usage and rental of the tennis ball machine and perform racquet stringing.
- Ensure proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order. Reports any maintenance problems to the Head Tennis Professional or Building Maintenance Manager.
- Monitor court usage including special events, clinics, and lessons.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
- Self-monitor hours, including taking all required breaks (tens and lunches) appropriately and monitoring scheduled time.
- Perform other duties as required to assist fellow Ambassadors in fulfilling Martis Camp's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES:
- Associates degree (AA); or related experience and/or training.
- Pre-employment backgrounds screen (to work with kids and kids' combo camps).
- CPR, First Aid Certification.
- Teaching Certification (Tennis) preferred.
- Assistant Professional must possess a U.S.T.A. rating of 4.0 or better.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (with or without accommodations)
- Ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to twist, bend, reach and kneel
- Ability to move quickly and run
WAGE RANGE: $16 per hour + commission
