Job Description
Program Overview:

AbelZeta Inc is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel cancer immunotherapy products. AbelZeta operates a state-of-the-art facility in Rockville, Maryland with five GMP rooms in order to augment its global research and development capabilities and to support clinical development of multiple cell therapy platform technologies in the US. We are on a rapid growth trajectory and have a highly energized and accomplished team driving to new frontiers of care for cancer patients.

Our Summer Internship Program is designed to provide high school students, college students, and recent graduates with dynamic experience in the biopharmaceutical field. Interns will engage in hands-on learning, receive mentorship from industry professionals, and participate in meaningful projects aligned with our organization's mission and values.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Current high school or college students. Or recent college graduates.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in biology or related fields.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commitment to the full duration of the internship program as agreed upon during the interview process.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US.
  • Maryland Work permit required for students under 18.

Program Duration and Schedule

  • Duration: Late May/early June to end of August (up to 3 months, minimum 1 month commitment).
  • Schedule: Flexible, ranging from 3 hours a day, 2 days a week, to a maximum of 5 hours a day, 25 hours a week.

Responsibilities and Duties:


Research Department:

  • Intro to Immuno-Oncology (discussion and reading)
    • Antigens
    • Antibody/TCR/CAR
    • CAR-T/TCR-T/TIL
    • Autologous versus allogeneic
    • Effector T cells/effector cytokines/cytotoxicity
    • Tregs/checkpoint molecules/immunosuppressive cytokines
    • Clinical Results: comparison of Antibody/CAR/TCR/TIL for different cancers
  • Hands-on Lab Techniques
    • Dimensional analysis (calculating concentrations and dilutions, etc.)
    • Pipetting
    • Aseptic cell culture & maintenance
    • Cell counts
    • Transfection of DNA
    • Microscopy
  • Plans for Observation
    • Lentivirus production
    • CAR-T and tumor co-culture
    • Flow cytometry
    • Real-time cell killing assay
  • Miscellaneous
    • Tube labeling
    • Lab maintenance
    • SOP writing/editing

Technology and Manufacturing Department:

  • Provide support in Material Management and Manufacturing Operations
  • Understand Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) basic concepts

Quality Department (QA):

  • Responsible for the indexing of documents currently in the document control room
  • Responsible for the physical organization of documents in the document control room.

  • Responsible for scanning documents to a shared drive location or to a quality management system.

  • Other duties that may be assigned

Regulatory Affairs Department:

  • Create IND document (M2, M3 and M5) templates
  • Create training slide decks/templates/content (import/export or Reg document SOP)

  • Blog or interviews with public-facing content (website/Linked) after stakeholder approval

  • Curate endnote library/document resources/images to facilitate authoring/information presentations
