Introduction:

Our client seeks a Network Engineer for a long-term program supporting an IC customer in McLean, VA. This position requires an active TS/SCI full-scope polygraph clearance.

The Network Engineer will maintain and enhance the performance of the customer's network, software, and related hardware. This includes regular maintenance, updating hardware and software, and exporting data in a customer-accepted format. The position is part of a team of 5 and will require travel to customer sites for maintenance and support.

Role:

1. Maintain and enhance the performance of the customer’s network, software, and related standalone workstations and laptops.
2. Maintain network file servers with minimal disruption and downtime, including updating and replacing file server hardware components.
3. Travel to customer sites to perform preventative and regular maintenance to the customer network and related hardware and software components.
4. Support the development of new technologies to replace existing applications, including documentation and exporting data.
5. Perform various engineering analyses, software, hardware, or network development tasks.
6. Remain compliant with evolving customer security practices and accreditation requirements.
7. Manage webpages, including designing, developing, deploying, maintaining, testing, and performing quality assurance of webpages and web software.
8. Ensure the customer’s software remains operable in the latest operating system possible and with future hardware changes.
9. Analyze and design databases within a software area.
10. Develop, maintain, and deploy tools to allow easier software installation and remote administration of customer systems at remote sites.

Requirements:

1. Demonstrated experience working with large user bases, responding to troubleshooting tickets, managing access, and responding to other end-user requests.
2. Demonstrated experience surveying sites and identifying network and system issues.
3. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network, server, and stand-alone Apple and Windows-based workstation hardware.
4. Demonstrated experience with system security accreditation.
5. Demonstrated on-the-job experience or working knowledge of applying policies and procedures relating to network design, upgrade, operation, and maintenance.
6. Demonstrated experience analyzing and troubleshooting network latency, access, and security issues.
7. Demonstrated experience with installation and removal of network hardware and infrastructure.

Nice to Have:

1. Demonstrated experience with security accreditation practices and procedures and conducting assessments of existing Customer stand-alone networks.
2. Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Customer security and accreditation systems.
3. Demonstrated on-the-job experience with network design and configuration.
