Job Description

About Us:
Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services (ETSS) is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to serving and supporting the immigrant and low income communities in Columbus, Ohio. We provide vital resettlement programs, social services, and community resources to empower individuals and families to thrive.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Accounting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing our general accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting administrative duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage account entries for credit cards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify and process payments for accounts payable, maintaining strict adherence to financial procedures.
  • Reconcile accounts and investigate any discrepancies or variances.
  • Generate invoices and related documentation for accounts receivable, facilitating timely payments.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local financial regulations, providing guidance to management as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous reporting and administrative duties as required.
  • Compile financial reports and accounting data to support organizational decision-making.

Skills Required:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professionalism and self-directed work ethic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Must be an Excel wizard
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Prior experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Access is advantageous
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
