Job Title:
Automotive Technician (Retrofits, Military)

Type of Position:
6-month contract position initially (likely to be extended, ultimately good chance of going direct hire)

Job Location:
Columbus, OH (west side of Columbus).

Compensation:
$20.00/hr to $23.00/hr (depending on experience) to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

• NO PTO as a contractor, but this will be available in going direct.

Job Description / Duties:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a government contractor focused on science, technology, and military projects. We are currently seeking Automotive Technicians (multiple openings) to work on various projects connected to civilian vehicle retrofits for military use (think adding armor systems, more powerful engines / transmissions, maybe even some defensive systems). Previous military experience isn’t required but is always great to have. This role will have excellent growth potential over time.

Responsibilities / Job Duties:
• Conducts advanced diagnostic analysis of products using schematics, diagrams, and system knowledge.
• Demonstrates strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
• Has extensive experience with vehicle mechanics and/or vehicle electrical systems.
• Has experience with various vehicles such as autos, trucks, military vehicles, or boats.
• Able to conceive of and prototype electrical and/or mechanical devices including armor, switch panels, wire harnesses, suspensions, or lights.
• Above average skills in problem solving and innovation.
• Works on assembly of products to meet defined schedule.
• Monitors needs and metrics of assigned areas and recommends and implements improvements.
• Trains and leads less senior staff in daily activities.
• Lead role in training entry level staff.
• Monitors schedules and conducts tasks to maintain schedule.
• Provides guidance and leadership to less senior staff.
• Recommends allocation of resources to meet requirements.
• Takes direction from more senior staff.
• Works well with no direct supervision to complete multiple tasks.

Requirements / Skills:
• High School Diploma OR GED is required at a minimum (higher level experience is welcome).
• 2 years of strong experience in conducting related electrical/mechanical assembly tasks; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
• All candidates MUST be US Citizens due to the work involved connected to military projects.

Desired Skills / Experience:
We have multiple openings. In this moment, we most desire candidates who have experience in 1 or more of these areas:
• Automotive paint / body work experience.
• Armor / fabrication experience.
• Overall mechanical experience (diverse areas).

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
• We have openings available on 1st (day) and 2nd (afternoon) shifts. Both shifts work on a 4/10 schedule. 1st shift will be 6:00am to 4:30pm. 2nd shift will be 4:00pm to 2:30am. Both shifts work Monday to Thursday (with Friday off).
• Regular overtime will be available and will be paid at 1.5x.
