Position Summary:

​​​This professional position needs to be able to perform both conventional and complex traffic engineering assignments to support transportation improvement projects. This individual should be a fully qualified professional that can operate independently and is proficient in a variety of traffic engineering theories, practices, and software platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Work with a team of engineers and technicians designing and producing a variety of traffic engineering projects.
  • Assist in the analysis, design, and implementation of projects such as traffic impact studies, traffic operations studies, capacity analysis, traffic signal design, signal timing, signing, striping, and traffic control plans.
  • Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Provide support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
Minimum Requirements:Benefits:
  • BS in Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as Professional Engineer in Civil, Electrical, or Traffic Engineering in California.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic signals, lighting, ramp metering, electrical transportation systems, signing, pavement delineation, and construction traffic handling.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to work and thrive in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and/or Microstation to prepare traffic and electrical engineering plans.
  • Experience in performing field review to verify as-built electrical plans
  • Proficiency in using AGI and/or VISUAL photometric analysis software
  • Proficiency in using Auto-Turn software​​​​​​
