Entry Level Utility Engineer

Rinker Design Associates, LLC, is a leading provider of professional civil engineering services to both the public and private sector. We are looking for project engineers to join the Department of Utilities. The Department of Utilities is responsible for a wide variety of design and coordination for various utilities, including water, wastewater, electric, phone, communications, and gas. This position has excellent potential for career advancement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare design plans, specifications, and estimates for the relocation or undergrounding of dry utilities such as electric, telecommunications, and gas.
• Prepare design calculations, plans, and specifications for water distribution and sanitary sewer collection projects.
• Prepare technical memorandums and cost estimates.
• Perform utility relocation coordination services for transportation projects.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams on preliminary, intermediate, and final design plans.
• Interact with other departments, clients, vendors, project managers, and engineers to ensure designs are consistent and coordinated.

Position Requirements

• B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
• Registration as an E.I.T. in Virginia is desirable.
• 0 to 5 years of experience in utility, land development, water/wastewater, or transportation engineering design is required.
• AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation experience is required.
• Able to work independently to perform basic design tasks.
• Must demonstrate teamwork and possess written and oral communication skills.
