Axle is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Office of the Director (OD) located in Bethesda, MD.

Overall Position Summary and Objectives Under this task order, the contractor will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institutes of Health, Office of Intramural Research. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.


Deliverables:

  • Work products and documents for all wellness and resilience training; develop curriculum and materials; create and maintain an wellness and resilience presence on the OITE website; develop the training schedule, identify and assign speakers (or be the speaker); create event descriptions; conduct periodic evaluations of wellness and resilience content and offerings, analyze the results and modify or improve offerings to better meet trainee needs; share OITE wellness and resilience expertise with NIH ICs and interested extramural parties. - Ad-Hoc


Work Details:

  • Support and deliver programming to enhance the development and implementation of wellness resources for biomedical trainees. 1
  • Provide expertise around issues that impact success in research environments including, but not limited to, wellness, resilience, identity formation, stereotype threat, the impact of imposter fears and other cognitive distortions, and problems resulting from cross-cultural mentoring. 2
  • Evaluate national wellness trends to align wellness programming and conversations 3
  • Meet individually with trainees and staff to discuss wellness and emotional health issues; assist trainees with developing wellness strategies and navigating challenging situations. 4
  • Coordinate services for trainees dealing with acute stressors, including workplace conflict, family issues, emerging identities, racial bias, first generation trainees, and health concerns. 5
  • Provide expertise to address diversity and inclusion in research environments. Guide, develop and implement initiatives, programs, and content to assist the entire OITE and its sub-programs (NAEP, UGSP and HiStep) to address racial bias in research environments.
  • Develop and implement content and programming for wellness advising with a cultural lens.
  • Participate in high-profile wellness programming such as the Mental Health Series, Resilience Series, and any new wellness/resilience initiatives.
  • Facilitate small group discussions, including leading guided mediations and/or journaling sessions or wellness topics.
  • Develop educational materials around wellness and resilience.
  • Develop of trainee support group development. Identify appropriate topics, coordinate group leaders, recruit trainees, coordinate communication with registrants.
  • Evaluate wellness programming
  • Advise trainee affinity groups, such as the LGBTQI group

Minimum Education

Bachelor


Additional Qualifications:

Certifications & Licenses
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related discipline; three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a Master's degree
  • Masters degree in counseling
