Principal, Washington D.C.

Location: McLean, VA 22102 | Hybrid remote, 4 days in the office weekly

Employees: 250 | Team Size: 40

Industry: Architecture and planning, interior design, environmental design

Reports To: Regional Director | Travel: Limited, as needed to visit clients but rare

Open to relocating candidates and providing relocation assistance

Most Important Responsibilities:

Reporting to the regional director, this highly strategic role is responsible for managing a growing and successful office and team of design staff, project managers, and project architects
Overseeing and growing two or more project teams and multiple projects at different stages
Managing budgets and other financial aspects of the office in collaboration with leadership
Establishing processes to improve design processes, project scope, schedules, quality, staff enrichment, and client satisfaction
Helping to identify new business opportunities and expand accounts as needed (there are a lot of inbound projects and work in the pipeline, so this is not a huge focus for this role)
Working with the construction administration team and interior design team to resolve issues
Coordinating project contractors, including owner agreements, consultant agreements, add serves, and budget information

What you can bring to the table to impact this role, team, and organization:

20+ years of industry experience in design, architecture, planning, and implementation
Excellent leadership, time management, analytical, organization, and communication skills
Experience overseeing large-scale, multifamily housing and/or high-rise design and construction projects
Background in project management, design direction, quality assurance, client relationship building
Experience with senior-living, student housing, or hospitality projects is preferred
Experience at the principal level or someone who is ready to make the step up into the role (senior-level project manager)
Experience managing multi-million, multi-year projects and overseeing corresponding teams
