Mainframe Engineer

Location:  Arlington, VA

>> This is not a remote or hybrid job. In-office work required.

This position will support a federal government agency that requires US Citizenship. 

Datawiz has a current opening for a Mainframe Engineer to support their Federal Government client on a full-time, long term contract.  

Job Description:

·         Provide senior-level z/OS technical support (installation, implementation, administration, and maintenance) for all IBM z/Mainframe-based solutions.

·         Work with senior team members to perform problem determination and resolution, capture and transmit system dumps, closely work with vendor’s technical support, apply fixes and patches, coordinate testing and implementation of fixes and new versions, and work with other mainframe-based technical teams on production roll-out.

·         Providing dump analysis and problem determination of root causes related to system problems or outages.

·         Participating in the installation, implementation, performance, testing and integrity of a large (shared and cluster queues) IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex systems

·         Installing, maintaining and customizing operating systems and 3rd party ISV system software.

·         Preparing and installing system software including OS and 3rd party packages by following vendor and location-specific installation procedures.

Requirements:

·         BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education or experience.

·         Six or more years of experience in mainframe operations management to include configuring, debugging, and maintaining TCPIP, VTAM subsystems configurations.

·         Experience with z/OSMF, AT-TLS rules, IPSEC policies, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, SDSF/ISPF, and LPAR management.

·         Advanced knowledge of standard Systems Integration tools and practices.

·         Strong analytical and communication skills (written and oral).

·         Experience in a financial services environment preferred.

·         Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, customers and other IT personnel.

Public Trust Background Investigation

This position requires having or obtaining a Public Trust Clearance. The requirements are below:

• Must be a US Citizen
• If On-Site, must be able to commute to Arlington, VA
• No Bankruptcies, open or closed (it is a lifelong check)
• No Car Repossessions (it is a lifelong check)
• No current collections that do not have a payment plan
• No bad standing with IRS
• No bad credit
