Riverview International Trucks LLC is one of the region's premier Commercial Truck Dealerships, proudly serving Northern California. Riverview is a full service heavy duty truck dealership selling International Brand Trucks. We are proud to BE LOCALLY OWNED SINCE 1981 and have 92 total employees working in our parts sales, service department, new and used truck department, office, rental and lease department, body shop, fire shop and our new Redding location. Riverview has an immediate need for an experienced Controller/Office Manager. Our current Controller/Office Manager is moving out of state but will be here to hand over the reins thru Jan 2024.

CONTROLLER/OFFICE MANAGER:

As a member of Riverview Management Team and the leader of the accounting team you are in charge of closely monitoring the company's financial health. Maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and more.

As the leader of a team of 6 office employees the Controller is in charge of preparing the consolidated financial statements each month of the organization, the various treasury tasks and responsibilities and providing guidance on a day to day business. As the Controller/ Office Manager you are just not overseeing but you are in depth in the daily workings of the dealership.


Objectives of this Role:

  • Design and maintain the financial reporting platform using CDK business system, including a proper Chart of Account
  • Act as the primary authority for accounting policies, questions and guidelines
  • Determine and implement effective and compliant accounting practices
  • Lead the cash management day-to-day operations, while optimizing our cash flow
  • Manage the annual federal and state tax return process
  • Work with CPA to file annual reports 
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to owner by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
  • Develop, implement, and maintain proper internal and financial controls, including for our information systems
  • Provide support to all departments to help drive revenue, control expenses, and contribute to a premier guest experience.
  • Cultivate a second-to-none- culture that creates meaning and satisfaction for all Riverview employees and customers
  • Ensure that the accounting records are maintained in an orderly, current and accurate condition at all times.
  • Ensure that all Company policies are communicated and followed.
  • Onboarding of new employees
  • HR assistance with employees and managers
  • Audit the balance sheets and schedules regularly and address any possible problems while keeping owner informed of problems and potential liabilities.
  • Assist operations and department managers with dealership forecasting and budgeting.
  • Ensure timely completion of all financial statements, monthly work papers and reports.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear reconciling items every month.
  • Review every schedule in the dealership every month and make necessary corrections.
  • Prepare documents and work with all audits that we are selected for.
  • Follow documentation and best practices established.
  • Oversee 2 bi-weekly payrolls on ADP with our Union and Non Union employees and monitor benefits for all employees
  • Manage office staff and ensure daily, weekly and month end tasks are covered.
  • Attend managers meetings and provide input on company policies and procedures
  • Retrieve mail daily from PO Box and disperse to proper departments. 
  • Deposit cash at local bank
  • Work everyday to keep Riverview in compliance 

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and tax standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead cross-functional month-end closing process
  • Manage multiple bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Ensure payroll and benefits are recorded in an accurate and timely manner
  • Determine and implement effective tax guidelines and policies
  • Continuously identify process improvement, remove bottlenecks and document new SOPs when needed, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
  • Oversee, provide professional support and develop the Corporate Controlling Unit with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Required – at least 2 years work as Controller for a company
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Willing to work long hours during month end or during monthly reporting deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Strong Excel background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deal with fellow employees and customers all day long

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant license is a plus
  • History working in Heavy Duty Truck or Auto Dealer Controller position is a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis and internal controls environments

 

Preferred:

  • Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
  • Exemplary history of financial project management

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
