Paralegal Legal Assistant

Full Job Description:

Handelin Law is a growth-oriented law firm that focuses on estate planning and administration, business formation and transactions and workers' compensation appeals. We are seeking an experienced paralegal/legal assistant who is familiar with workers' compensation appeals and litigation to join our team.

As a legal assistant in our Workers' Compensation department, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys through the appeals process with the State of Nevada.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone calls
• Prepare a variety of legal documents under attorney direction and supervision
• Prepare correspondence
• Create and manage multiple files
• Calendaring and calendar management for attorneys and assisting the management attorneys and other team members with a variety of tasks as assigned
• Conduct legal research related to workers' compensation laws and recent decisions
• Assist in the preparation for hearings and trials, including organizing exhibits and witness preparation
• Coordinate with medical providers, employers, and insurance adjusters as necessary

Skills

• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Must be able to routinely meet deadlines and be prepared to be responsive to client requests on a daily basis
• Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks
• Maintain calendars and schedule meetings in Outlook and Clio
• Strong computer skills (proficient knowledge in Adobe and Microsoft Suite -Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• Self-starter who can multi-task and manage own time
• Maintain regular communication with clients
• Track and organization numerous documents, including contracts, memorandums and pleadings
• Extensive proofreading, redlining, and work with successive iterations
• Dependable and reliable

Required Experience:

• Previous experience in a legal setting as a paralegal/legal assistant 3 years minimum, specifically in workers' compensation and litigation or a related field is a plus
• Pay range depends on experience
