SkillBridge Opportunity (Active Military Service Members): Pest Control Service Technician

This is an internship/train to hire position offered through the DoD SkillBridge Program

The National Pest Management Association offers an industry-training program opportunity for service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through hands-on training and mentoring with a licensed pest control professional who has experience and expertise in pest control, company operations and management. The goal of this program is an offer of employment to the service member upon successful completion of the program to ensure a short transition time from military to civilian work.

Pest control service technicians protect households, businesses and public health from diseases and destruction by controlling pests that threaten humans, the food supply, and the structural safety of homes and businesses by using a variety of treatment options.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Inspect and identify pests and conducive conditions.
  • Assess treatment options.
  • Control pests in and around a variety of properties including homes and businesses.
  • Monitor service treatment success and make corrections as needed.
  • Follow company service protocols to address customer concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with the client and/or property owner regarding the work to be accomplished.
  • Coordinate activities with administrative, scheduling, and other team members.
  • Collect customer payments, provide receipts, and document payments.
  • Document findings, materials used, application methods, and other related content at the conclusion of each service.
  • Perform other administrative tasks at the supervisor's direction that may include, taking inventory of equipment and supplies, compiling, and submitting reports, and calling customers regarding client callbacks and stopped service.
  • Follows company procedures and state/provincial laws to ensure the safety of company employees, customers, and the public.
  • Maintain company issued equipment and vehicle (if applicable) in a clean and safe condition at all times.
